Barbara
Damren
Jul 11, 1939 — Sep 7, 2005
HALLOWELL - Barbara J. Damren, 66, of Academy Street died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. She was born in Augusta on July 11, 1939, the daughter of Almon and Florence (Carroll) Davis. Over the last few years, Barbara was able to satisfy her desire to travel by visiting her son when he was in Arizona. She enjoyed doing community service with the Hallowell Food Bank and the Old Hallowell Day at the Cotton Mill Apartments, where she will be missed by many friends and was welcoming to all. Barbara also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, who will remember her as a loving, kind woman with a good sense of humor. She always had a joke to tell and was happy to hear a new one. She is survived by a son, Jeffrey LeBel and his companion, Larry Moreno of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two daughters, Deborah Rexford and her fiance, Gordon, of Palermo, and Brenda Proulx and her husband, Michael, of Farmingdale; two sisters, Shirley Hall and her husband, Robert, of Mount Vernon, and Judy Dow of Augusta; four grandchildren, Shane Rexford, Derek Rexford, Nicole Proulx and Sierra Proulx; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hallowell, with the Rev. George Hickey, celebrant. Burial will occur in the Robinson Cemetery, Mount Vernon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Road, South Portland 04106.
