READFIELD - Carol Ann Whitcomb passed away peacefully at home early Sunday morning, Sept. 10, 2006, with her loving family nearby. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was born in Millinocket on Dec. 9, 1947, the daughter of William and Elsie (Miller) Boutin. \r\r\n\r\r\nHer family includes her husband, Aaron Whitcomb; her children, Lee-Anne Whitcomb, Heather Whitcomb, Aaron Whitcomb and his wife, Jen, Rebecca Whitcomb, and Kimberly Whitcomb; and her granddaughters, Ashley Whitcomb and Emily Whitcomb. She is also survived by her mother, Elsie, of East Millinocket; her sisters, Marion Turcotte of China and Patricia Hartley of Trenton, and their families; and her brother, William Boutin and his family, of Augusta. \r\r\n\r\r\nCarol was a wonderfully kind and giving woman who worked hard on the family farm in Readfield and at the Elvin farm in Kents Hill. She also touched many lives through day care and her work at Readfield Elementary School. She was an active member of her church at First Church of Christ Scientist, Augusta, where she shared many happy experiences with friends and family. \r\r\n\r\r\nCarol loved to create beautiful needlepoint pieces and other homemade items, as well as countless loving meals and memories. As an avid reader, Carol felt that books should be a part of every child's life. Because of this, her family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to local literacy programs or to the library at Readfield Elementary School. \r\r\n\r\r\nNo funeral services will be held in accordance with Carol's wishes. However, a gathering in celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, Sept. 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Readfield Elementary School. All who knew her are welcome to join Carol's family and friends in celebrating the love and joy she shared with us in her short time here. \r\r\n\r\r\nArrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
