EAST WINTHROP - Charles H. Barter, 65, of Cloverleaf Street died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at his home. He was born in Augusta on July 17, 1942, the son of Leroy and Evelyn (Frost) Barter. Charles attended Winthrop-area schools. He had worked at Lipman's Poultry, Tex Tech Industries, and most recently retired from Bickford's Woodworking in Monmouth. He was a member of East Winthrop Baptist Church, where he was very active in the Food Ministry program. Charles enjoyed playing bingo and doing genealogy but, most of all, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Evelyn Barter; and a brother, Leroy Edward Barter. He is survived by two sons, Christopher Barter and his fianc?e, Tiffany Bragg, of China, and Eric Barter and his wife, Josee, of Winthrop; two brothers, Warren Barter, of Winthrop, and Roger Barter and his wife, Lynn, of Clinton; five sisters, Rebecca Webster, of Farmington, Diane Christenson and her husband, Jim, of Belgrade, Geraldine French, of Farmington, Lois Daggett and her husband, Arnold, of New Sharon, and Sharon Sawyer and her husband, Carroll, of Belgrade; four grandchildren, Ashley, Zach, Jared and Trevor; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and an uncle, Merle Frost, of Winthrop. There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of life will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, at East Winthrop Baptist Church, with pastor Sam Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenside Cemetery, Winthrop. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Food Ministry, c/o East Winthrop Baptist Church, P.O.
