Spring Hill, FL. ~ Clifford L. Quinney, 95, formerly of Scarborough and Winthrop, Maine, died Sunday, August 16, 2015 in Spring Hill, Florida. He was born in Biddeford on May 11, 1920, the son of William Francis and Maude Ann (Pluff) Quinney. He was educated in the Biddeford public school system and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After his discharge from the Army Medical Corp, he continued his education by attending business college. He had been employed as a salesman for many years and retired in 1980 from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years of service. Cliff had been an active member of the American Legion for over 60 years. He served for many years with the Maine Athletic Commission as a boxing judge for both amateur and professional bouts. He is survived by his wife Velma M. Quinney of Spring Hill and Winthrop; 2 stepsons, Robert E. Swazey of Harvey, Louisiana and Ronald E. Burnham of Winthrop; also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00am Monday, August 31, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where condolences, memories and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at www.khrfuneralhomes.com.
