Obituary

AUGUSTA ~ David Leroy Trask, 91, died Thursday October 13, 2016 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born in Augusta, March 30, 1925 the son of Frank and Ada (Southard) Trask. David was raised by his mother and step-father, Karl Pierce, growing up in Augusta and graduating from Cony High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Field Artillery from 1943 to 1946. After being discharged, Dave used the G.I. Bill to attend pharmacy school. He worked at LaVerdiere’s Pharmacy on Water Street in Augusta, for many years and also travelled around central Maine, helping at several other LaVerdiere’s locations. He worked at the Apothecary Pharmacy in Richmond before his retirement. David loved to ski with his boys, attend car races, rock collecting, hiking and road trips. He was a member of American Legion Post 132 in Richmond. Mr. Trask was predeceased by his sons, Robert and Mark Trask and his sister, Beverly Gilcrest. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Beth Trask; his half-brother, Stetson Pierce; his grandchildren, Ariel Savage and Brittany Trask; great-grandchildren, Kylee Savage and Wyatt McKenzie, and nieces, Victoria Martell and her husband, Chuck, and Ann Rich and her husband, Tom. Great niece Lauren Ricciardelli, and great nephew Brent Rogers A graveside service will be held at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road in Augusta, Wednesday October 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop.
