Obituary

AUGUSTA - Dennis Wallace Hutchings Jr., 46, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 22, 2007, as the result of a heart attack. He was born in Augusta, the son of Georgie (Stratton) Gagne and Dennis Hutchings Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Augusta and graduated from Cony High School in 1979. Denny worked his entire career at Gagne and Son Concrete Blocks. He was a well-known mechanic and people would go to him for his extensive knowledge and ability to fix things. Denny loved his truck, riding his Harley, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, stock-car racing where he worked on a pit crew, working with stained glass, watching scary movies, reading Stephen King novels and doing Sudoku puzzles. His greatest accomplishment in life was being a great father and grandfather. He had a great sense of humor and a gentle manner with his granddaughter, nieces and nephew. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Denny is survived by his mother Georgie Gagne of Augusta; his father Dennis Hutchings Sr. of Cathedral City, Calif.; a daughter Kristen French and granddaughter Hannah French of Rome; 2 sisters, Glenna Belanger and her husband Rick of Winthrop; Penny Gagne of Portland; nieces, Jordan Belanger of Winthrop and Juliet Plouff of Portland; nephew David Plouff of Portland; cousins James Barrows of Augusta, Jennifer Barrows of Boston and Craig Barrows of Randolph; several aunts uncles and cousins. Visiting will be held Tuesday, September 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Belgrade.
