AUGUSTA - Eben Alden Peabody Jr., 92, of Augusta died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at the Augusta Rehabilitation Center. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe was born Aug. 6, 1915, in Topsfield, Mass., the son of Eben A. Sr. and Eva (Harris ) Peabody. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe moved to Augusta in 1921 and graduated from Cony High School in 1933. He went on to attend Gates Business School and began his career working for the state Division of the Blind. He retired from the state in 1980. \r\r\n\r\r\nEben was an avid gardener and loved his electric trains. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe is survived by his niece, Gail Quimby, of Albion; his nephew, Alden Peabody, of Augusta; his sister-in-law, Nancy Peabody, of Augusta; along with several great-nieces and nephews. \r\r\n\r\r\nAccording to Eben's wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Mount Hope Cemetery, Winthrop Street in Augusta. \r\r\n\r\r\nMemorial donations in his name may be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330. \r\r\n\r\r\nArrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
