ELKHART, Ind. ? Evelyn May (Andrews) Arbo, 91, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at an Elkhart hospital. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was born May 12, 1911, in Bradford, N.H., daughter of John L. and Lillie (Williams) Andrews. \r\r\n\r\r\nEvelyn attended Winthrop schools, graduating in the class of 1929, and received her bachelor of science degree in English from Aurora University in Illinois. She furthered her education at the University of Maine at Orono in Maine and received her master's degree in both English and Library Science. Evelyn taught school in both Maine and Connecticut for more than 35 years. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe lived in Smyrna Mills and Morro in Maine and retired to Dowling Park in Florida, where she was very active in the Christian Advent Church. Even after her retirement, she was always willing to share her knowledge with the children. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was a devout Christian who lived and practiced her faith daily. She was a kind and gentle person who always saw the good in others. She was a member of the Maine State Retired Teachers Association and the National Education Association. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was predeceased by her husband, Avon Arbo; son, Avon Arbo Jr.; and a brother, Kenneth Andrews. \r\r\n\r\r\nSurvivors include a daughter, Maralle Arbo Yoder and husband, Sam, of Elkhart; three sisters, Jean Andrews Ardell of Florida, Marian Andrews Hinkley of Arizona and Arlene Andrews Lovejoy of Winthrop and Wayne, Maine; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. \r\r\n\r\r\nA memorial service will be held later at the Smyrna Mills Methodist Church at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at the Patten Cemetery in Patten, Maine. \r\r\n\r\r\nRoberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop was in charge of local arrangements.
