Evelyn A. Lucero Obituary (1932

AUGUSTA ~ Evelyn A. Lucero, 84, passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2016 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. She was born in Augusta on January 29, 1932, the daughter of Clarence D. and Bertha Alice (Corson) York. Evelyn grew up in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School. She met Don Lucero and they were together for nearly 40 wonderful years, recently making it official as they exchanged vows in their marriage to each other on February 14, 2012 at their home in Augusta. Ev and Don were very active in their lives. Together they enjoyed boating, fishing and many other outdoor activities. They were extensive travelers who vacationed all over the United States, including Hawaii, California, Nevada and many other destinations, and had plenty of fun frequenting many casinos along the way, especially since all their expenses were comped by the casinos they visited. Their travels outside the United States were equally fascinating, taking them throughout Mexico, Hawaii and the Philippines, which were just a few of their favorite places they loved to visit. Together they enjoyed life to its fullest. Ev was a true entrepreneur who wasn’t afraid to be involved in any type of business. To name a few, but not all, she worked in mechanics/engine repair, owned a used car dealership, produce stand, antique store and a restaurant and enjoyed making and selling jewelry. An extremely giving person, Ev was her children’s rock with whom their entire foundation was built on. Her love was unconditional and she was a pillar of strength to her family and those who loved her. She was the very backbone of her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives and will truly be missed by all, but never forgotten. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents; son, Charles Eaton; daughter, Edith Page; six brothers, Edward, Raymond, Stanley, Preston, Robert and Russell York; and seven sisters, Vivian Quirion, Violet Sibrel, Alice Farrington and Mae, Beatrice, Louise and Dorothy York. She is survived by her beloved husband, Don Lucero; children, Richard White (Mercy White), George White, Evelyn Goo, Patti Gump, Carla Ebube (Kingsley Ebube), Muriel Moore (Monti Moore), Leland White (Teresa White), Sandra Ruth (Marshall Ruth), Matthew Lucero, Richard Lucero, Kimberly Salazar and Ivy Roque; brothers, Richard York and Arthur York; along with her 28 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday, April 11th and 9:30 – 11:30 am on Tuesday, April 12th at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta. A celebration of Evelyn’s life will follow the visitation on Tuesday at 11:30 am at the funeral home. After her celebration of life, all are welcome to her interment at 1:00 pm in the chapel of the NEW Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
