Obituary

HARTFORD, Conn. - Gerald Frederic Haskell, 63, of Hartford died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Augusta, Maine, on Jan. 12, 1945, the son of Herman and Marie (Duffy) Haskell. He was a 1963 graduate of Cony High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1965 and served in Korea in telecommunications. He was honorably discharged in 1968. After his military service, Jerry went to work for Pratt and Whitney in Hartford. Later, he worked for Kodak, where he was employed when he retired. Jerry was always kind and helpful and was full of laughter and smiles. He loved animals, especially his dog, Dexter. He was a joy to be with and will be sadly missed. Mr. Haskell is survived by his brothers, Stephen W. Haskell, of Augusta, Brian E. Haskell and his wife, Dawn, of Vassalboro and Timothy B. Haskell and his wife, Peggy, of Augusta; his sisters, Jeanne A. Haskell, of Augusta, and Gail Taylor and her husband, Jerry, of San Diego; along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A committal service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road in Augusta.
