AUGUSTA ~ Harold F. Savage, 95, of Augusta, died Sunday May 4, 2014 at Lakewood Continuing Care in Waterville. He was born in Augusta, September 18, 1918 the son of Harold F. and Maria (Lajoie) Savage. Harold worked at Bath Iron Works at the beginning of World War II but left there to serve in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945. He was involved in activities in the Ardennes, Normandy, the Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. Harold worked for a time at Central Maine Power. Mr. Savage was predeceased by his wife, Jean in 1999. He is survived by his son, Robert Savage, of Augusta. A graveside service will be held at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Augusta on Friday May 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta.
