Winthrop - On January 18, 2013 our beloved husband, father and friend Joseph A. Dumond Jr., passed away from this world to the next. Affectionately known as “Chicken Joe”, he was born in Augusta on October 10, 1956, the son of Joseph and Rose (Lavalee) Dumond. He attended Augusta area schools and had worked for Lipman Poultry, the City of Augusta, and for the last 23 years has worked at Bath Iron Works. He enjoyed watching Patriots football, NASCAR Racing, especially #88, and spending time at Ocean Point with his family and friends. He was predeceased by 2 brothers David Dumond and William Dumond. He is survived by his wife of 11 years Margaret “Peggy” Dumond of Winthrop; his son Ralph Sergent and his wife Penny of Farmingdale; a daughter Amy Greenlaw and her husband Matthew of Augusta; his mother Rose Dumond of Hallowell; 3 sisters Debbie Cloutier and her husband Kenny of Augusta; Laura Lewis and her husband Richard of Farmingdale; Rosalie Taylor of Augusta; 3 grandchildren Terra, Elizabeth and Jake; several nieces, nephews cousins, and his cats Reba, Bobby and Josie. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 25 at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where condolences, memories and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the website at www.khrfuneralhomes.com. Following the service, the celebration will continue with family and friends at the Pittston Fairgrounds.
