AUGUSTA -- Do you hear what I hear? The sound of a multitude of heavenly hosts giving glory to God and celebrating his victory as they greeted Michael L. Goding, 57, of Augusta, who finished his race on Christmas Eve day at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Michael was born Aug. 29, 1954, to Jacqueline Trahan and Lawrence Goding. He was a graduate of Winslow High School and the University of Maine, where he studied criminal justice and played college basketball before he discovered his talents in the technology field. Michael spent his life in the service of his Lord Jesus Christ, working in a number of different capacities. Early in his career, Michael worked as a manager for the data center at CBN in Virginia Beach, Va. Returning to Maine, Michael worked as a teacher and a basketball coach for a small private school. Michael was also an entrepreneur. He served as CEO of Innovation Technology, a computer consulting and software development company he had begun in the early '90s. He served as a vice president in a major pharmaceutical company in Baltimore, Md. and later ended his working career as an executive for MBNA and Bank of America in Camden and Belfast. Michael was a member of Fayette Baptist Church, where he served as a teacher of theology and apologetics. He loved the study of God's word and cherished the time he was able to spend with his brothers and sisters in Christ. Above all, Michael wanted people to hear and to know the good news of Jesus, and his life continues to serve as a testament to God's love and grace. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Jean Goding; his children, Ryan Goding and wife Kylie, Jason Goding and wife Tanya, Lindsey Wood and husband Ryan; and stepsons Bryan and Garrett Luszczki. He is also survived by his father, Lawrence Goding, and stepmother Gladys Goding; his sisters Debbie Manning, Jean Hood, Patricia Marceau, Rose Trahan-Dejesus; and brother Lee Trahan. A memorial service to celebrate the life and legacy of Michael Goding will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 at Fayette Baptist Church with Pastor Russell Cotnoir officiating. A committal service will be held in the spring, at a date and time to be announced, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville.
