Augusta - Muriel K. Hart, 91, of Church Hill Road, died Thursday February 22, 2007 at her home. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was born in Augusta on December 21, 1915 the daughter of Wallace and Minnie (Jones) Shaw Sr. \r\r\n\r\r\nMuriel graduated from Cony High School, class of 1933, and attended Farmington Normal School. While at Cony, she was Captain of the hockey team and played basketball. In her junior year she received the Phillips Cup for all around best student in her class. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe had worked for many years at the Augusta Mental Health Institute until her retirement in the early 1970?s. Muriel helped organize, and was the leader of, the first girl scout troop in Augusta. She enjoyed many outdoor activities as well as playing bridge and reading books about Maine. She was a life member of the Augusta Nature Club. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was predeceased by her husband Elbridge Hart in 1962. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe is survived by a son Gregory Hart and his wife Lisa of Whitefield; a daughter Roberta Gamage and her husband Newman of Augusta; 8 grandchildren, Megan Hart and her husband Tony, Erik Hart and his wife Denise, Betsy Delevan and her husband Dan, Scott Gamage and his wife Jolene, Steve Gamage and his wife Lynn, Dale Gamage and his wife Rhonda, Barbara Owens and her husband Mark and Tom Gamage and his wife Cindy; also many great grandchildren. \r\r\n\r\r\nVisiting will be held Monday February 26 from noon to 1:30pm at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta where a funeral service will be held at 1:30pm, following the visitation. Spring burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Augusta. \r\r\n\r\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Nature Club, c/o Betty Warren, 4 Parker Road, Pittston 04345.
