Augusta -Rita R. Gammon, 81, of Riverside Drive, died peacefully at her home on Thursday July 13, 2006. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was born in Augusta on July 28, 1924 the daughter of Arthur and Yvonne (Guimond) Quirion. \r\r\n\r\r\nRita was a life long resident of Augusta and attended Augusta area schools. She had been a waitress at several restaurants in Augusta for many years. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. Rita was an avid bowler and enjoyed working with crafts. She was also a very giving person who enjoyed helping others in need. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was predeceased by 2 sisters; Florida Pelletier and Rose Castonguay. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe is survived by a daughter Roxanne G. Smith of Naples, FL and Boothbay Harbor; 2 sons Richard S. Gammon and his wife Audrey E. of South China; Rodney L. Gammon and his wife Judith E. of Dixfield; 3 sisters Claudia Arnold of Manchester, Cecile Rowe of Hallowell and Yvette Marshall, Augusta. 2 grandchildren Brooke Lederer and her husband Aaron and Stephen Gammon and his wife Tina; a great grandson Isaac Lederer, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. \r\r\n\r\r\nVisiting hours will be held Monday July 17, from 6-8pm at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta, where a celebration of Rita?s life will be held Tuesday at 10:00am.
