CHELSEA - Rodney M. Young, 60, of Chelsea died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday Nov. 17, 2007. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe was born in Augusta on July 10, 1947, the son of Maurice and Pearl (McCurda) Young. \r\r\n\r\r\nRodney worked at several jobs before retiring from Carleton Woolen Mill after 20-plus years. He served honorably in Vietnam with the U.S. Army from 1966-69. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing and the horse pulls. He will be greatly missed. \r\r\n\r\r\nRodney was predeceased by his parents, his wife Wanda on June 6, 2007, and a grandson 'RJ' Fish. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe is survived by his 2 daughters, Kim Gardiner of Chelsea and Pearl May Fish and her husband Robert of Augusta; a step daughter Zina Lucas and her husband Roger of Readfield; two grandsons, Bobby Young of Chelsea and Travis Fish of Augusta; five step-grandchildren; a brother Robert Young of Pittston; three sisters, Barbara Robinson, Beverly Lucas and Pamela Barney all of Chelsea; several nieces and nephews. \r\r\n\r\r\nAt Rodney's request there will be no visiting or services. He will be buried in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery next to his wife. \r\r\n\r\r\nArrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St, Augusta, ME 04330.
