Roland H. Roy Obituary (1926 - 2013)

AUGUSTA—Roland H. Roy, 86, of Augusta, died Saturday June 29, 2013 at his home. He was born in Lewiston, Maine, August. 29,1926, the son of Henry and Rose (Sevigny) Roy. Roland moved to Lynn Mass when he was 8 yrs. old, lived in Lynn, Mass., and Connecticut until moving back to Maine 20 years ago. Roland served in the Army during the time of occupation, at the end of World War II. After the war, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a mechanic prior to retirement. He was married to Martha W. (Lovell) Roy for 49 years before her passing 7 months ago. Roland is survived by his three children, Gary Roy and his wife, Nancy, Roland H Roy Jr., and Helen Newton and her husband, John ; 7 Grandchildren, Daniel G. Roy, Nicole A. Roy, John E. Newton Jr., Alyssa C. Newton, Katrina H. Newton, Alyssa S. Roy, Alex H. Roy and one great-grand child, Emma Graboski. A graveside service will be held at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, in Lewiston on Wednesday July 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church Street, Augusta.
