AUGUSTA - Roland E. True, 58, of Augusta died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at his home. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe was born Jan. 22, 1947, in Augusta, the son of Elmer and Blanche (Bubier) True. He grew up in several local towns and attended Cony High School. \r\r\n\r\r\nRoland served in the Navy for a short time and, when he returned home, he began working as a heavy-equipment operator for several local construction companies. He also owned and operated True's Country Store for a number of years. \r\r\n\r\r\nRoland enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, hunting, motorcycle riding and spending time with his animals. He had a great love for his family and had numerous friends from all walks of life. \r\r\n\r\r\nMr. True was predeceased by his parents; his son, Roland True Jr., who died in 1990; his brothers, James and Walter True; his stepmother, Nettie True; his stepfather, Bill Taylor; his stepbrothers David and Howard True, and his sister-in-law Virginia True. \r\r\n\r\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Sharon (Moody) True; a daughter, Wendy Bayles and her husband, Scott, of Augusta; his grandchildren, Crystal and Scott Bayles Jr.; a sister, Gloria St. Hilaire of Salem, Mass.; his stepbrothers George True of Chelsea, Paul True of Fayette, Charles True of Livermore Falls and John True of Mount Vernon; his stepsisters, Barbara Wyman of Florida and Margaret Bryant of Wayne; his brother-in-law, Timothy Moody and his wife, Ann, of Malden, Mass.; his sister-in-law Delarece Gray and her husband, Douglas, of Lewiston; along with many dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. \r\r\n\r\r\nRelatives and friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, where a celebration of Roland's life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. \r\r\n\r\r\nBurial will occur at Manchester Forks Cemetery. \r\r\n\r\r\nMemorial donations may be made to Roland's family to help defray funeral costs.
