AUGUSTA ~ Samuel M. Bowker, Sr., 80, passed away suddenly on May 5, 2014 at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta, with his loved ones by his side. His battle with cancer was short lived but his love for his family and friends will live on forever. Sam, as everyone knew him, was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and enjoyed the outdoors. Sam loved to garden and was always seen in his vegetable garden all summer long. He always enjoyed a good game of cribbage with his best friends and had plenty of time to talk about his best man at his wedding and long-time friend of 64 years, Don Seabridge. He also enjoyed dinner and time spent with his friend, Pastor Tom and his wife, Denise. Sam will always be loved and dearly missed by all his family and friends. may the Lord bless and protect you always, Dad. Sam is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 59 years; his four children, Samuel Bowker, Jr., Saundra (Keith) Johnson, Robert (Donna) Bowker and Richard (Rhonda) Bowker; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Sam loved animals, especially his dog, Brandi, who passed a few years prior.
