AUGUSTA ? Sophie L. Harvey, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at the Maine Veterans Home, in Augusta, after a long illness. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was born in Wilton, March 27, 1915, the daughter of Paul and Julia (Sciuk) Pyska. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was a graduate of Monmouth Academy and Gates Business School, in Augusta. \r\r\n\r\r\nSophie had been employed by McLellan's store and as a secretary at WRDO radio station, both in Augusta, until she met her husband, Henry L. Harvey in 1942, at which time she became a homemaker. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe lived in North Monmouth with her family for many years until they moved to Augusta in the early 1930s. After her husband served in the service they resided at 28 Newland Ave. for 54 years. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was a communicant of St. Andrew's Church, in Augusta, a member of St. Andrew's Women's Club and the Senior Citizens Group. \r\r\n\r\r\nSophie was an avid gardener, who enjoyed fairs, horse-racing events and absolutely loved animals. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Henry L. Harvey, in 1998; her brother, William Pyska, in 1976, and her sister, Josephine Jones, in 1998. \r\r\n\r\r\nShe is survived by two sons, Edward Harvey, and his wife, Patricia, of Leeds, and Robert Harvey, of Augusta; and a granddaughter and great- granddaughter, Roberta and Samantha Harvey, both of Arlington, Texas. \r\r\n\r\r\nRelatives and friends are invited to visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Augusta, with Rev. Michael Seavey, celebrant. Committal prayers will be offered at 11 a.m. at the Father Leclair Memorial Chapel, Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. \r\r\n\r\r\nFor those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, Inc., 20 Winter St., P.O.
